Bolt selects the NVIDIA alpamayo stack technology platform for the development of autonomous vehicles across europe

NVIDIA's software will support the european autonomous driving program
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Bolt has selected the NVIDIA Alpamayo Stack technology platform, an integrated autonomous driving software suite from NVIDIA, to support the vehicles in its European autonomous mobility program, with Lucid as its initial partner.

Having now secured the core technological infrastructure, Bolt is preparing to bring its autonomous driving program to European roads. The program will launch in Madrid by 2027, while Germany and France have been identified as key markets for its future expansion. The initiative will lay the groundwork for the development of a fleet of at least 25,000 Lucid vehicles, designed to support Level 4 and equipped with the NVIDIA Hyperion platform.

The program is a key part of Bolt’s broader strategy to deploy 100,000 autonomous vehicles in Europe and the wider region covered by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) by 2035.

Through their partnership, Bolt, NVIDIA, and Lucid are combining technologies and expertise from the global market with the goal of creating a comprehensive autonomous mobility solution for European cities. The goal is to develop a mobility service using autonomous vehicles that can expand beyond individual programs to encompass different vehicle manufacturers and markets.

The program in Madrid is expected to launch in 2027 with Lucid vehicles, with the initial goal of collecting real-world driving data to support the development and validation of autonomous driving technology, provided that the necessary regulatory approvals are secured.

The program combines Lucid’s vehicles, which are based on advanced software architecture, with NVIDIA’s Hyperion and Alpamayo Stack technologies. Bolt and NVIDIA will collaborate to adapt the autonomous driving software to European road conditions and integrate it into vehicles from different manufacturers, starting with Lucid. The Alpamayo Stack, which runs on the NVIDIA Hyperion platform, combines artificial intelligence with reasoning capabilities, traditional perception and route-planning systems, as well as NVIDIA Halos safety features.

Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions will be responsible for the development and commercialization of the autonomous mobility service in Europe, leveraging its fleet management infrastructure, its expertise in regulatory matters, and its knowledge of local markets. At the same time, it will draw on its experience operating a global mobility platform that serves more than 200 million customers.

Jevgeni Kabanov, President and Head of Autonomous Driving at Bolt, said:

“Autonomous driving will change the way people get around in cities, and Europe must play a significant role in shaping this future.

Our ambition isn’t limited to introducing autonomous driving in just a few cities. We want to make autonomous transportation widely available throughout Europe, with 100,000 vehicles on our platform by 2035. To achieve this, we’re combining some of the world’s leading technologies.

Following our first autonomous mobility service in Luxembourg, our next step—in collaboration with NVIDIA and Lucid—is to launch a program in Madrid in 2027. The Community of Madrid is leading the way in establishing a structured framework for the commercial deployment of autonomous mobility, in coordination with national authorities. Germany will also be a priority for our next steps, as cities there have already set clear goals for autonomous mobility.”

Rishi Dhall, Vice President of NVIDIA’s Automotive Division, stated:

“Robotaxi services will be able to scale up significantly when every vehicle is based on a common technological infrastructure designed with safety in mind.

NVIDIA Hyperion standardizes the computing and sensor architecture across different vehicle platforms, while NVIDIA Alpamayo Stack and Halos technologies provide the driving intelligence and safety foundation. Bolt’s European platform, its operational experience, and its collaboration with cities and regulatory authorities make it a strong partner for the large-scale deployment of autonomous mobility services in Europe.”

Kay Stepper, President of Lucid Technologies and Chief Digital Officer at Lucid, said:

“The advanced architecture of Lucid’s vehicles provides an ideal foundation for integrating NVIDIA Alpamayo technology into Bolt’s mobility platform. Our close collaboration to date, as well as the start of data collection next year, are the first steps toward developing scalable autonomous mobility services in Europe, based on advanced software technologies.”

The program with NVIDIA and Lucid is part of Bolt’s broader autonomous driving strategy, alongside its partnerships with Pony.ai and Stellantis. Through these partnerships, the company aims to bring together different vehicle manufacturers and technology partners to develop and deploy autonomous mobility services in European markets.
