A notification regarding the incident involving the disclosure of personal information during the posting of “Declarations of Assets and Income” , representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Personal Data told CNA on Thursday.
As they explained, in the event of such an incident, it must be reported to the Authority within 72 hours; the Authority then reviews the report, evaluates it, and, if necessary, requests additional information.
They also noted that the primary concern in such cases is to limit the scope of the problem and then to determine each party’s share of responsibility, adding that the assessment of an incident can take anywhere from two weeks to two years, depending on the circumstances.
They pointed out, however, that in this instance, certain information was published, which came to the Authority’s attention; the Authority subsequently contacted the Parliament, and corrective measures were taken jointly under the guidance of the Commissioner’s Office, therefore the process is expected to be shorter.
Finally, they added that the House of Representatives is expected to submit its notification later today, which will be reviewed so that the next steps can be taken.
