Certificates were awarded to police officers from Larnaca and Paphos Airports who completed the “Insider Threats at the Airports” training course, were awarded at an event organized by the Airport Security Directorate (ASD), held on October 20, 2026, at Larnaca Airport.

The training took place within the framework of the European AIRPOL Network and was organized by the Cyprus Police, with the aim of enhancing staff knowledge and skills in preventing and responding to internal threats at airports.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to two of our fellow citizens, Loukas Efstathiou and Maria Kalapoda, who, in separate incidents, found sums of money on the premises of Larnaca Airport and turned them over to the police. Their actions serve as a concrete example of honesty and social responsibility.
The award ceremony was preceded by a blessing and a greeting from the Commander of the Larnaca District Police,A., who spoke about the importance of ongoing training and cooperation to further enhance security at Cypriot airports.
