Giorgos Bartzokas addressed the match-fixing scandal that has rocked Greek basketball during Olympiacos’ Media Day ahead of the game against Fenerbahçe (Oct. 23, 9:30 p.m.).
The Piraeus team’s coach emphasized that he and his team are in favor of fairness, noting, among other things, that: “It’s better if there are no doubts, and the courts should decide what has and hasn’t happened.”
Here is what Giorgos Bartzokas said in detail:
“These are very serious revelations that are shaking up Greek basketball because they’re not something you can just brush aside. Personally, and along with my team, we are in favor of transparency and the rule of law.
So it’s best to leave no room for doubt; let justice determine what has and hasn’t happened. We, too, will be following the developments with interest, just like everyone else, while of course trying not to let this disrupt our routine, which is very demanding.”
