The cross-examination of the complainant in the rape trial against the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Faidonas Faidonos, was not completed today.
Her cross-examination by the defendant’s defense attorneys will continue on October 27.
Last week, for two consecutive days, the complainant testified in court regarding the rape case, with her cross-examination beginning on Tuesday and continuing today in a closed-door court proceeding.
Following the completion of the complainant’s cross-examination, three other witnesses from the prosecution’s witness list have not yet testified for various reasons, including the well-known businessman who had made public allegations regarding the case.
Once the prosecution witnesses have finished testifying, the Criminal Court will rule on whether there is a prima facie case. If it determines that there is sufficient evidence, witnesses for the defense will then be called to testify. Based on the procedures followed, it is estimated that by the end of the year, the trial of this high-profile case will be concluded and a verdict will be handed down.
