The Cypriot delegation is in the final stretch leading up to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Haris Georgiou preparing to represent Cyprus in Malta with the song “Who I Can Be.”
Shortly before the event, Andreas Anastasiou, press officer for the Cypriot delegation to Eurovision, spoke live on the show “Alpha News” hosted by Katia Savva, describing the atmosphere surrounding the preparations and discussing the young contestant’s condition as well as the goals for this year’s participation.

As Andreas Anastasiou noted, this year’s event marks a change from previous years, as the contest is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. The jury rehearsal is also particularly important, as it accounts for 50% of the final result.
Listen to the song “Who I Can Be”:
“This year’s contest is taking place at 10 p.m. instead of in the afternoon as it was in previous years, and we hope that tomorrow’s rehearsal with the juries—who determine half of the result—will also go well,” he said.
Referring to the expectations of the Cypriot delegation, Andreas Anastasiou noted that the best finish Cyprus has achieved to date in this contest is eighth place. For this year’s entry, as he explained, the priority is a well-rounded performance through which Haris Georgiou will clearly convey the message of his song.
“The best finish Cyprus has ever achieved in the contest is 8th place. We hope things go well this year—at least in terms of the performance—so he can convey the message he intends to, and that’s our goal for this year. To convey the message to children that what matters is for them to be who they want to be and what they dream of becoming,” Andreas Anastasiou shared.
In a brief message to the Cypriot audience, Haris Georgiou shared his excitement about his upcoming performance on the Junior Eurovision stage, while also calling on the audience to support Cyprus’s entry.
“Hello, Cyprus. I’m in Malta rehearsing my song ‘Who I Can Be.’ I’m so excited to perform it on October 24. Don’t forget to vote for Cyprus at jesc.tv
