All eyes are on the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court today, as it is expected to announce its verdict in the high-profile case of the murder of 55-year-old Thanasis Kalogeropoulos.
Four defendants are on trial, and the proceedings are being followed with particular interest following the postponement of the scheduled announcement of the verdict on September 9, due to the large volume of evidence presented to the court.
It should be recalled that the murder took place on October 30, 2023, in a parking lot next to a seaside restaurant in Limassol.
Thanasis Kalogeropoulos was the victim of an armed attack that resulted in his death and led authorities to conduct extensive police investigations.
The joint indictment includes, among other charges, conspiracy to commit murder, premeditated murder, as well as offenses related to the possession, transportation, and use of firearms and explosives, and the arson of a vehicle.
The previous hearing, during which the verdict was expected to be announced, took place under draconian security measures, with a heavy police presence both inside and outside the courthouse.
Today’s session is expected to mark the culmination of the legal proceedings, with attention focused on the Criminal Court’s decision regarding the four defendants.
