Olympiacos BC responded to posts by Dimitris Giannakopoulos, who linked the revelations about match-fixing to the “Red-and-Whites.”
“In his campaign for 100-0 refereeing in favor of Panathinaikos, he won’t find any allies in us. For years now, we’ve been fighting our own, genuine battle for a 50-50 split,” they state.

“We have nothing and no one to fear,” they add, continuing: “Be careful what you wish for. Because if what was truly stolen is returned, your team’s trophy case and that famous little table at Sounion will be filled with cobwebs instead of trophies.”
And the statement concludes: “You’ll never again mention the emblem of the laurel-crowned teenager, which adorned the entire OAKA in May.”

“Since we have been informed that the current owner of Panathinaikos BC is desperately seeking us out, we wish to inform him that in his campaign for a 100-0 refereeing decision in Panathinaikos’ favor, he will find no allies in us. For years now, we have been waging our own, genuine fight for a 50-50 split. And we will see it through to the end.
In recent hours, with his usual lack of restraint, he rushed to link our team and its members to an ongoing investigation with which we have absolutely no connection. In fact, he’s publicly boasting that he knew about it in advance. So since he has, as he boasts, full knowledge of this confidential process, didn’t anyone inform him that we have absolutely nothing to do with it? That there isn’t a single mention of us? Or perhaps that doesn’t fit the media spectacle he’s staged on the back of the Olympiacos Basketball Club?
We don’t play the role of judges on Instagram or behind a keyboard.
We have nothing and no one to fear.
And as he already knows firsthand, any attempt to harm our team will be met, for the umpteenth time, with a crushing response. We only hope that, when he is convicted again, some photographic evidence won’t resurface to keep him at the basketball club.
And a word of advice: be careful what you wish for. Because if the items that were actually stolen are returned, your team’s trophy case and that famous little table at Sounion will be filled with cobwebs instead of trophies.
