Olympiacos BC reacted to the way in which Panathinaikos BC, through its COO, Stavros Dinos, called for the resignation of the members of the KED and EOK during the ESAKE Board of Directors meeting.
According to the “Red-and-Whites”: “Contrary to what was reported, Panathinaikos’ representatives stated that the KED is legitimate and that it can legally appoint referees. This is also recorded in the minutes.”
Earlier, through the COO of Panathinaikos BC, Stavros Dinos (with the club’s attorney, Evangelos Desypris, also present), the club had requested that the ESAKE Board of Directors immediately remove all members of the KED and the EOK from the organizing body.
“It is obvious that all members of the KED and the EOK must resign. The president of the EOK and two members of the KED are in handcuffs, while two others are reportedly testifying as defense witnesses for the detainees. How can we possibly allow the rest of them to appoint referees for this matchday? Just because it may be ‘legal’ doesn’t mean it’s ethical. “They must all resign IMMEDIATELY,” Mr. Dinos stated, among other things.
In fact, the “Greens” did not want to participate in a joint statement issued by all the teams, as they did not wish to take a position on the arrests of EOK and KED officials:
“We will not align ourselves with any joint statement from the Hellenic Basketball League (ESAKE), as what we want to say will not be agreed upon by certain teams.”
Stavros Dinos left the meeting when Christos Milas, president of Promitheas and a former close associate of Vangelis Liolios, took the floor.
