A 20-year-old man was placed in four-day custody today, following the issuance of a relevant order by the Limassol District Court, at the request of the Police, for the purpose of investigating a case of attempted destruction of property with explosive materials, which occurred on September 30, 2026, in Limassol.

The 20-year-old was arrested yesterday by police officers pursuant to a court warrant, which was obtained following testimony that emerged during the investigation of the case.

The case involves the discovery of an improvised explosive device outside the entrance to a store in Limassol in the early morning hours of September 30, 2026. The bomb was discovered by police officers who arrived at the scene to investigate after receiving a tip from a member of the public.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and the improvised explosive device—which had been triggered but did not detonate—was safely defused by a police bomb disposal expert.

On October 4, 2026, three other individuals, aged 20, 22, and 28, were arrested in connection with the case and were placed in eight-day pretrial detention by court order on the same day..

On October 12, 2026, the case was scheduled for trial before the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court, with the 22-year-old among the three arrested individuals standing as the defendant, while police investigations continue.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigation.
