Roma came back from a two-goal deficit and held on… in Naples

A "high-scoring" game with six goals

Roma proved to be too tough to beat at the “Diego Armando Maradona” Stadium!

The “Giallorossi” found themselves trailing twice—first 2-0 and then 3-2— but they refused to lose and came away with a valuable point from Napoli’s home stadium (3-3) in the eighth round of Serie A.

The “Partenopei” opened the scoring in the 28th minute with Aginssa’s incredible backheel shot, and McTominay gave his team a two-goal lead in the 48th minute.

The visitors didn’t give up, and with a thunderous curling shot by Soule from outside the box, they pulled one back in the 70th minute, only for Balerdi to come on four minutes later and equalize with a close-range finish.

Napoli not only remained unfazed by this turn of events but, on the contrary, they managed to find their footing and regain the lead in the 83rd minute with McTominay’s stunning long-range curling shot.

And just when it looked like the “Giallorossi” were headed for their first loss, Balerdi sealed the final result with a powerful header in the 89th minute.

Thus, Roma remained undefeated in this season’s league and climbed to third place in the standings with 18 points, one point behind the leaders, Inter and Lazio, who have one game in hand. On the other hand, Napoli remained in 10th place with just 11 points.
