A hard-fought victory for Atlético Madrid, with Álvarez as the “golden” scorer!

The “Roji-Blancos” struggled greatly in their home match against Deportivo La Coruña, but ultimately managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory, with the Argentine forward scoring the game-winning goal—his second consecutive game with a goal for the first time this season.

The game was evenly matched for the most part, with the visitors holding their own against Diego Simeone’s team but failing to find the back of the net. Álvarez did just that at the start of the second half (47′), when he capitalized on Grimaldo’s perfect assist to make it 1-0, which would turn out to be the final score. Thus, Atlético celebrated its sixth consecutive league victory, remaining on course for the title.

Earlier, Villarreal pulled off a 2-1 comeback victory with a goal in the 96th minute at Valencia’s home stadium; the “Bats” had taken the lead in the 38th minute on a penalty kick by Popelu, while Freeman equalized in the 69th minute, before Mikaoutanje came on to score in the 90th minute plus 6 seconds and secure the valuable victory for his team.

Racing Santander also defeated Espanyol in a 2-1 comeback, thanks to goals by Belosian in the 69th minute and Zabiri in the 84th minute, while Elche had an easy time at Rayo Vallecano’s home stadium, celebrating a comfortable 3-0 victory.
