There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of eleven individuals for various offenses, including illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, carrying a knife, illegal possession of a weapon, public intoxication and disorderly conduct, breaking and entering and theft, causing serious bodily injury, and assault resulting in actual bodily injury.

As part of these operations, 857 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 1,078 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 30 inspections were conducted at premises to address illegal activities.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 426 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 14 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 254 were for speeding, and 15 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations. In addition, 120 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in three citations, as well as eight preliminary drug tests, with two positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
