Tourism revenue in August fell by 3.4% compared to the same month in 2025, totaling 581.8 million. According to the Statistical Service, for the period January–August 2026, tourism revenue is estimated at €2,319.8 million, representing a 6.2% decrease compared to €2,472.9 million during the corresponding period of 2025. Spending by Country

The decline in tourism revenue is driven by a decrease in per-capita spending from the United Kingdom, which remains the largest source market in August, accounting for 30.5% of the total. Per-capita spending by tourists from Greece also fell by 3.8%,

A significant increase in spending was recorded from the U.S. market, with per-capita spending nearly doubling, from €849.70 to €1,691.60. A significant increase was also noted in Switzerland, as the average per-capita spending in August 2026 reached €1,423.77, compared to €1,254.87 in August 2025, and in Belgium, where average per capita spending rose to €1,064.54, compared to €918.56 in August 2025, marking a 15.9% increase.
