Particular emphasis was placed during discussions with the Minister of Transport on the role of the Port of Limassol as a key cruise gateway for Cyprus. The handling of cruise ships, general cargo ships, and Ro-Ro vessels, as well as the provision of specialized port services, strengthen Cyprus’s trade and connectivity, while also generating benefits for the economy and employment.
In a statement, Simon Pitout, CEO of DP World Limassol, expressed his satisfaction with the Minister of Transport’s visit: “We were particularly pleased to welcome the Minister to the Port of Limassol and had the opportunity to give her a firsthand look at our operations and our plans for the future. The port plays a pivotal role in trade, tourism, and connecting Cyprus to the rest of the world, and we are proud of DP World Limassol’s contribution to the Cypriot economy. The cruise sector, in particular, can offer significant benefits not only to the port but also to local businesses, the community, and tourism in general. Our goal is to continue working closely with the government and our partners to further develop the Port of Limassol and the cruise sector.”
