With the goal of fostering healthy eating habits and environmental awareness among young people, Lidl Cyprus announces the relaunch of the experiential program “Lidl Food Academy for Children” for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The program is being held for the 9th consecutive year in partnership with the Ministry of Education and is part of the Health Education curriculum for 7th-grade students. Since the program’s launch in 2018, more than 6,800 children from 260 schools across Cyprus have participated in the program, gaining valuable knowledge and experiencing the joy of creative cooking.
Through this long-standing partnership, Lidl Cyprus and the Ministry of Education and Culture are joining forces to offer children a comprehensive, hands-on experience. At the modern facilities of the Lidl Food Academy in the center of Nicosia, students have the opportunity to:
- Learn about the value of a balanced, Mediterranean diet.
- Develop practical cooking skills under the guidance of a professional chef and with the support of a registered clinical dietitian/nutritionist.
- To learn about food sustainability, the origin of ingredients, and reducing food waste.
The hands-on workshops are offered free of charge during school hours, while coordination and school registration are handled through the Health Education (Home Economics) of the Secondary Education Division of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Through the “Lidl Food Academy for Children” program, Lidl Cyprus reaffirms its commitment to empowering the younger generation, by providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to adopt a healthier lifestyle and actively shape a sustainable future.
