Breastfeeding is a collective effort and requires cooperation from all sectors. Its success depends on the support mothers receive from health services, their family and friends, their workplace, their community, and the government.
World Breastfeeding Week (World Breastfeeding Week – WBW), organized by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), has been celebrated annually since 1992 in more than 170 countries. It is supported by UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), ministries of health, and numerous organizations and agencies worldwide to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding.
