KOEAS is strategically strengthening the communication and promotion of Cypriot track and field

Highlighting not only major events, but the entire ecosystem

The Cyprus Amateur Track and Field Federation (KOEAS) and the marketing company Ontime Media are expanding their partnership starting in September, with the aim of further strengthening strategic communication, visibility, and the more effective promotion of Cypriot track and field in Cyprus.

The decision to extend the partnership is part of KOEAS’s broader strategy for even more organized and effective communication of the Federation’s work and the value that track and field brings to Cypriotsociety. KOEAS recognizes that, in an ever-changing communications environment, the quality and consistency with which a sport is presented to the public are now key factors in its growth, outreach, and the recruitment of new athletes.

The partnership with Ontime Media began in 2023 with the company taking on the communication and promotion of major KOEAS events, including the Cyprus Road Races Grand Prix, the EKO Cyprus International Athletics Meeting, and the European Throwing Championships. Building on the experience gained and the results of the collaboration to date, KOAS is moving to the next stage by expanding the scope of its communications partnership.

The goal now is for communications to function in a more comprehensive and strategic manner for the Federation, highlighting not only major events but the entire ecosystem of Cypriot track and field.

Track and field is the sport traditionally known as the “king of sports,” and the Cyprus Athletics Federation (KOEAS) ranks among Cyprus’s most successful sports federations, with a significant social presence and a long history of international achievements. At the same time, the work of the KOEAS is multifaceted and spans many different areas, from the development of young athletes and the Pan-Cyprian Championships to international competitions, national teams, and support for elite athletes.

The KOEAS competition calendar includes a wide range of events and championships each year, while Cyprus boasts a new generation of male and female athletes who are achieving significant successes and representing our country at major international events, such as Milan Trajkovic, Elena Kulitsenko, Olivia and Filippa Fotopoulou, Joseph Kesidis, Valentina Savva, Marina Hatzikosta, and many other athletes. The goal is to make these successes, the efforts behind them, and the people involved even better known to the general public.

In this context, Ontime Media will contribute to the further development of KOEAS’s communications presence, with an emphasis on content creation, the promotion of events, highlighting athletes and their stories, and creating a more modern, consistent, and outward-looking image for Cypriot track and field.

Commenting on this development, KOEAS President Periklis Markaris stated:

“Cypriot track and field has a multifaceted and particularly important mission, one that is not limited to major events and the international successes of our athletes. Behind every race, every championship, and every achievement lies a tremendous effort dedicated to developing the sport, supporting athletes, discovering new talent, and creating opportunities for the next generation. We therefore believe that this work deserves to be communicated with the same professionalism and consistency with which it is carried out. Communication is now an essential tool for the growth and outreach of a sports federation, as it allows us to bring track and field closer to society, highlight our athletes and their stories, and raise public awareness of the work carried out by KOEAS throughout Cyprus. With this philosophy, we are further strengthening our communication strategy and investing in a more modern, organized, and effective presence for Cypriot track and field.”

The social dimension of KOEAS’s work is also of particular importance. Events such as the Cyprus Road Races Grand Prix have already succeeded in bringing thousands of people closer to sports—and specifically to the running community— while also making a significant social impact and energizing running communities throughout Cyprus. In 2026, for example, the Cyprus Road Races Grand Prix are being held with tremendous success for the fourth consecutive year in collaboration with the Cyprus Police and the National Guard, across the five free districts. This initiative is part of a broader framework of institutional support for Cypriot sports. The Cyprus Sports Organization (CSO) has consistently supported the Cyprus Athletics Federation (CAF), recognizing the significant contribution and successes of track and field, a sport that constitutes the “backbone” of Cypriot sports and one of the country’s most important and successful sports federations. This institutional relationship and the ongoing support of the Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC) and the Cyprus Athletics Federation (CAF) are a vital part of the effort to further develop and strengthen the sport.

The expansion of the partnership with Ontime Media serves to reinforce this effort, with the shared goal of giving Cypriot track and field an even stronger voice, greater recognition, and an even stronger presence in the daily lives of sports fans and Cypriot society.

For KOEAS, communication is not merely about publicizing results and events. It is a tool for developing the sport, showcasing its athletes and stakeholders, strengthening the relationship with the public, and fostering a new generation of track and field fans and athletes.

This new phase of collaboration with Ontime Media aims to serve precisely this goal.
