Primetel is strengthening its involvement in research and innovation by supporting the use of Digital Twins and advanced digital technologies to create smarter and more sustainable cities.
Primetel is participating in the European research project METACITIES Excellence Hub in South-Eastern Europe, a collaborative initiative that brings together organizations from Cyprus, Greece, and Bulgaria, with the goal of promoting innovation and the digital transformation of cities and regions in Southeast Europe.

The project focuses on the development and utilization of advanced digital technologies, such as Digital Twins, next-generation networks, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data Analytics, with applications in the fields of smart mobility, green cities, and urban planning.
Digital Twins: From Data to Better Decisions
At the heart of METACITIES are Digital Twins, digital representations of real cities, infrastructure, or systems that can combine data from different sources and support the evaluation of alternative scenarios.
This technology makes it possible to examine the potential impacts of an intervention before implementing it in the real world, thereby facilitating more informed decision-making and the design of solutions tailored to citizens’ needs.
As part of the project, Digital Twins applications are being developed and tested in various sectors, such as smart parking, building energy management, and the urban heat island effect, with the aim of exploring the potential for their application in larger regions and cities.
Primetel’s Contribution to Innovation
As one of the project partners in Cyprus, Primetel is participating in the effort to strengthen collaboration between the business, research, and public sectors. Its participation is part of a strategy to leverage the results of METACITIES, exchanging know-how, and exploring future applications and services related to Digital Twins and smart cities.

The METACITIES Excellence Hub in South-Eastern Europe is a European research project focused on developing an ecosystem of excellence and innovation to leverage advanced digital technologies in cities and regions across SoutheasternEurope.
The project brings together research organizations, businesses, public agencies, and other partners from Cyprus, Greece, and Bulgaria, with a focus on digital twins, artificial intelligence, data, and next-generation technologies.
