For the second year in a row, the Nicosia Kids Festival “A Hug for the Children” is set to offer a full day of activities for the whole family. On Sunday, October 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., children and parents will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich program filled with games, music, dance, theater, creative activities, and interactive experiences, at an event that combines fun with social contribution. The guest star is the popular singer Antigone, who represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest.
An event that’s back
The first edition of the Nicosia Kids Festival, “A Hug for the Children”—an initiative by Cyfield—was warmly embraced by the public. More than 6,000 visitors gathered last year at the square of the old GSP Stadium, confirming that meaningful events can become institutions.
This year, the festival returns even more revitalized, with more options for children of all ages. The philosophy remains the same: to create a space where children can play, create, learn, and have fun, while parents have the opportunity to spend quality time with them.
From 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., families will be able to explore the various themed corners and choose the activities that suit them and pique their interest.
Fun, Art, and Creativity
Performances, music, dance, games, crafts, and science activities make up a program where every child can play an active role if they wish.
On the main stage, Alex Panagi and Katerina Christofidou will present “Anakyklosia,” a fairy tale based on the musical “TRASH —Escape from Trash City,” featuring live music, colorful puppets, and original songs.
In the dance segment, Creative Dance Studio will present a flash mob, while Shiakallis Dance Studio will perform Greek dances.
The program is further enriched by the Mascarini Theater, Mordan with an interactive magic show, and the Shadow Theater with “Karagiozis the Teacher.” Chrysi Andreou will present the play “The Little Worm and the Naked Snail Goutsou.”
The Educational Corner is expected to be a unique experience, where learning becomes play. With Engino Cyprus, children will build models and learn about programming, while SciSO will introduce them to the world of science through interactive experiments. The Merry People Academy rounds out the activities with hands-on workshops, and Imagination Gaming Cyprus offers board games for all ages.
The fun is enhanced by face painting, balloon art, and mascots from Mikeymania, as well as a stilt walker, offering even more opportunities for play and creativity.
In addition, families will have access to rest areas and street food options, with music setting the pace throughout the event.
Joy Takes on a Social Dimension
At the heart of this year’s event, once again, are generosity and solidarity.
Through their booths, Hope For Children, Sophia For Children, One Dream, One Wish, the Alkinoos Artemios Foundation, Little Heroes, Embrace of Hope, Hope Foundation, Little Volunteers, the Pan-Cyprian Association of Foster Families “Nest of Love,” the Karaiskakio Foundation, Association for the Prevention and Handling of Domestic Violence (SPAVO), Pan-Cyprian Association for Rare Genetic Disorders “Unique Smiles,” “I Embrace with Love,” the Nicosia Children’s Shelter, and “Compass of Love” will inform the public about their work and will have products available for sale to support their initiatives. Proceeds from sales will go directly to the participating organizations. The following organizations will also participate: the National Betting Authority (EAS) and the Cyprus Basketball Federation (KOK).
Thus, a day of fun takes on even greater significance, as children and families can enjoy themselves while also getting to know the people and organizations that work every day to serve the community.
It should be noted that this major celebration is open to everyone, with free admission and free participation in children’s activities, giving every child the opportunity to enjoy the festival.
