SafeIsland CY, a new free app for iOS and Android, is now available to the public as part of an initial pilot phase, enabling citizens in Cyprus to report signs of fire, receive alerts about nearby incidents, and access important fire safety information via an interactive map.
The app was developed by Brickworks Games as part of the TechIsland Wildfire Initiative, an initiative created by TechIsland® following the devastating fires of 2025, with the aim of supporting affected communities and strengthening prevention, preparedness, and rapid response to the risk of wildfires.
SafeIsland CY was created as a practical public safety and information tool that enables citizens to contribute to the faster exchange of useful information, especially during the first critical minutes of a potential fire. The app is aimed at the general public, particularly those living in rural, mountainous, or other high-risk areas.
SafeIsland CY is being launched in collaboration with Kitas Weather, which will manage the platform during the pilot phase, to provide timely updates, as well as to evaluate and verify the information submitted through the app.
This initial pilot period will allow Brickworks Games and Kitas Weather to evaluate the platform’s performance under real-world conditions, gather feedback from users and relevant authorities, and identify ways to further improve its features, content, and management processes.
In the first few minutes of a fire, the available information is often fragmented. People in the area may notice smoke, road closures, or changes in wind direction before this information becomes widely known. SafeIsland CY helps fill this gap by facilitating the reporting, verification, and access to local observations.
Through the app, users can report fires by marking their location on the map, add a photo or brief description of the location, receive notifications about nearby community reports, and view active reports on a live map. This way, they can stay better informed whether they are at home, on the road, in rural areas, or near mountainous regions.
The app is not a substitute for emergency services. In the event of immediate danger, citizens should always contact the relevant authorities through official emergency channels. SafeIsland CY is designed to support timely information sharing, improve access to useful local information, and help communities share observations more quickly and responsibly.
SafeIsland CY is also designed with privacy in mind. The app does not use location tracking. Location data is used only when a user submits a report, and the user decides what information to share. Reports focus on the incident, not on the person reporting it.
SafeIsland CY is available for free on iOS and Android.

Citizens are encouraged to download the app, enable notifications, and familiarize themselves with its basic features, helping their communities gain faster and more reliable access to information related to wildfire risk.
The app was unveiled to the public for the first time during the TechIsland Wildfire Initiative launch event, organized by TechIsland® on July 23, 2026, at The Warehouse by IT Quarter in Limassol.
Georgy Beloglazov, CEO of Brickworks Games, stated:
“SafeIsland CY was created with a clear goal: to leverage technology in a practical way so that citizens and communities can share timely and useful information when there is a potential fire risk. The first few minutes are often critical, and access to local information can help ensure better awareness and faster response. The pilot phase will allow us to observe how the app is used in real-world conditions, listen to users, and continue to improve the platform. “We are proud that the Brickworks Games team has contributed to an initiative that directly supports Cyprus’s safety and resilience.”
Eric Kitas, founder of Kitas Weather, said:
“We are particularly pleased about our collaboration with TechIsland and Brickworks Games on SafeIsland CY. Timely and reliable information is particularly important during periods of increased fire risk. Through our role in managing the platform, our goal is to help ensure that the app provides useful and responsible information to communities throughout Cyprus.”
Tanya Romanyukha, General Manager of TechIsland, added:
“The TechIsland Wildfire Initiative was created based on the belief that collaboration can lead to practical and meaningful solutions for Cyprus. SafeIsland CY is an example of how technology, citizen participation, and local expertise can be combined to support awareness, prevention, and preparedness. We thank Brickworks Games for developing the platform and Kitas Weather for the active role it is playing in managing it during this important pilot phase. We encourage citizens throughout Cyprus to download the app, use it responsibly, and share their feedback with us so that we can continue to enhance it as an additional tool for keeping communities informed.”
