To mark World White Cane Day, the XM Group and the XM Limassol Marathon are launching their new social responsibility campaign, titled “See Through My Eyes” (See Through My Eyes – #RunThroughMyEyes), focusing on accessibility, inclusion, and the right of people with visual impairments to move independently and safely in Cyprus.

The campaign, which will culminate during the XM Limassol Marathon on April 3 and 4, 2027, aims to raise public awareness about the importance of using the white cane, raise funds for its purchase, and provide training for people with partial or total vision loss. To implement this initiative, the organization is collaborating with Through My Eyes, its official charitable partner for 2027.

Two gold medal-winning Paralympians—Karolina Pelendritou of Cyprus and Charalambos Taiganidis of Greece—are serving as ambassadors for the campaign. Both have personal experience with visual impairment, each to a different degree, they are joining forces to highlight the importance of independence and autonomy in the daily lives of people with visual impairments.

The white cane as a symbol of independence

The white cane is an essential mobility aid for people with low vision or total blindness, helping them move more safely and live more independently. Through the “See Through My Eyes” campaign, the XM Limassol Marathon aims to highlight the challenges that people with visual impairments face every day and the need for a society with equal opportunities and meaningful accessibilityfor all.

The official launch of the campaign is marked by the presentation of a central video, set against the backdrop of Limassol, the city with which both Paralympians are connected. Drawing on their own experiences, they call on the public to understand the daily challenges faced by people with visual impairments and to support the effort toward greater autonomy and independence.

Every donation is a step toward independence

As part of the campaign, runners, companies, and citizens are invited to support the initiative through monetary contributions of €3, €5, or €10, helping to fund the purchase of white canes and training in their use.

Donations can be made through the official website of the XM Limassol Marathon, as well as during the race registration process. At the same time, through the GivenGain platform, those who wish to support the campaign without participating in the races are also given the opportunity to make a financial contribution.

A campaign to raise awareness and make a meaningful contribution

The initiative will have an active presence during the XM Limassol Marathon on April 3 and 4, 2027, and, in collaboration with the organization Through My Eyes, an educational session on the use of the white cane is also planned. Upon its completion, the results of the campaign and the support provided to people with visual impairments will be presented.

Through the “See Through My Eyes” initiative, the XM Limassol Marathon and the XM Group are calling on the public to contribute to the effort to ensure greater safety, autonomy, and independence for people with visual impairments.
