Following the announcement that 5 million euros would be allocated for the reconstruction of fire-affected communities in Limassol, the HM Group is now moving forward with funding four major infrastructure projects, which are expected to revitalize the communities in the area.
Specifically, in the village of Vouni, the HM Group will fund the creation of a Community Park, which will be connected to the historic Venetian cistern, where the park’s entrance will also be located. The project aims to showcase the area and boost local tourism. The ground-floor area will welcome visitors with comfortable seating under a vine arbor and tall plane trees, providing a space for relaxation, lectures, presentations, and other community events. Via stairs or an elevator, visitors will be led to the second level for the café, and then to the third level, where there will also be a space for relaxation and sports, featuring a tall climbing wall that will connect the first and third levels and is expected to be a major attraction for many local and foreign visitors. The Vouni Community Council will be responsible for the operation and management of the Community Park.
The project, funded by the HM Group in the village of Agios Amvrosios, is expected to bring the communities closer together, as it involves the construction of a modern 11-by-11 soccer field with accompanying sports facilities, which will serve local teams as well as soccer academies. The field will feature artificial turf, a metal mesh fence, and clusters of tall trees to shield it from the wind. The complex will also include a concession stand, fully equipped locker rooms, and restrooms. The field will be able to host a variety of events—athletic, social, and cultural—attracting visitors from the surrounding area and other parts of Cyprus. The Agios Amvrosios Community Council will be responsible for the stadium’s operation and management.
In the village of Agios Therapon, the HM Group is funding the construction of a multi-purpose community center for hosting cultural, recreational, educational, and sporting events. Set within a specially landscaped environment, the center’s building will blend harmoniously with the area’s natural surroundings, promoting social interaction, culture, and entertainment for both community residents and visitors. It will be able to host social, cultural, and educational activities, such as wedding receptions and programs for children and seniors. The Agios Therapontos Community Council will be responsible for the operation and management of the community center.
A multifunctional, public, open space is the project that will soon grace the village of Souni-Zanatzia, funded by the HM Group. This space will offer opportunities for relaxation, recreation, and sports for people of all ages. It will be able to host cultural, social, and athletic activities, and will feature a modern and safe playground for local children, as well as a refreshment stand. This community space will resemble a park set amidst nature, with walking trails and easy, safe access for everyone. The Sounio-Zanatzia Community Council will be responsible for the operation and management of the space.
All community projects are expected to be completed within 18 months after the necessary permits are secured and will breathe new life into the communities of Limassol that were so severely affected by thefires of 2025.
