Greece’s first university is bringing to Cyprus the opportunity for students to earn the exact same degree from the University of Athens, by following the same curriculum and academic standards, without having to move to the Greek capital.
Specifically, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is officially expanding its academic presence by establishing a branch in Nicosia.
The Cyprus Branch is launching its operations with a focus on selected fields, offering the following programs:
- Medicine: A six-year degree program from Greece’s leading medical school, internationally recognized and with an emphasis on clinical medicine.
- Nursing: A program that combines academic knowledge with clinical understanding and professional readiness in the healthcare field.
- Economics: Focus on economic thought, policy, markets, and decision-making for the public and private sectors.
- Business and Organizational Management: Development of contemporary management, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Psychology: Exploration of human behavior and mental well-being with academic depth and a professional orientation.
- Education and Elementary Education: Preparation for a career in education, with a focus on teaching and child development in modern society.
- BAAG (Archaeology, History, and Literature of Ancient Greece): An innovative, English-language program dedicated to the study of Greek antiquity and classical civilization.
Teaching at the Cyprus Branch is directly supported by faculty members from the Schools and Departments of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), as well as by collaborating academic staff and specialized scholars. Depending on the subject area, degree programs may be offered in Greek and/or English.
Students will have the opportunity to study in an environment that connects academic life with the culture and daily life of the city, as the Branch’s facilities are located in the heart of Nicosia’s historic center.
The facilities include modern classrooms, access to libraries, and dining options. In addition, a comprehensive network of student services has been designed to offer:
- Support for housing issues
- Academic advising and career guidance
- Psychological support and counseling
- Mobility services
Applications and information about degree programs are already being accepted through the Branch’s official platform.
