The Police are informing the public that today, Monday, June 22, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., a protest will take place outside the Legal Service in Nicosia.
To ensure public order and safety, police officers will be present in the area and will implement the necessary traffic and other arrangements, depending on prevailing conditions.
The public is asked to show the necessary understanding, follow the instructions of the police officers on duty, and use alternative routes where necessary to avoid inconvenience.
The Police will continue to monitor the situation and will take all necessary measures to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the event.
All participants are asked to comply with the instructions of police officers, to demonstrate a spirit of cooperation, and to help ensure that the event proceeds peacefully.
It should be noted that, pursuant to Law 151(I) of 2025 on Public Assemblies and Parades, the organizer of the assembly or parade is required to ensure its smooth and peaceful conduct, to cooperate with the local administrative authority within whose jurisdiction it takes place, or is expected to take place, with the Police and with the Officer in Charge—who is designated as the liaison between the Police and the organizer—and to comply with their instructions.
Furthermore, this legislation allows the police, where deemed necessary, to impose restrictions on the assembly or procession, as well as to disperse it, especially when they cease to be peaceful, when they are held in violation of the imposed restrictions, when there is a risk of bodily harm to a person or damage to public or private property, and in the event of a spontaneous or emergency gathering or procession, when there is a failure to comply with the restrictions imposed.
Furthermore, in cases where there is reasonable suspicion that the gathering or procession is about to become non-peaceful, due to the actions of a person, or in connection with the commission or possible commission of offenses by a person who conceals, disguises, or alters their features in such a way as to render them unrecognizable, the Police may order that person to remove the object, product, or device in question that renders them unrecognizable.
