Power outages are occurring on Thursday afternoon in various areas of Nicosia due to severed power lines.
According to the EAC website, the following areas in Nicosia are affected by the outages: Engomi, Latsia, Agioi Omologites, and Strovolos, in the Chryseleousa and Proedrikou areas. Similarly, the following villages in the Larnaca district are affected by the outage: Agia Anna, Pseudas, Mosfiloti, and Kalo Chorio Larnakas.
The acting Press Spokesperson for the EAC, Dimitris Nathanail, stated that in Nicosia there are two separate outages, which resulted from underground cables being cut by contractors working in the areas.

Specifically, he said that the first outage occurred in central Nicosia, near the House of Representatives. He noted that the outage is expected to be resolved immediately.
The second outage occurred in the Tseri area, with Mr. Nathaniel estimating that it will take at least two hours to restore power.
In the Larnaca district, he added, a cypress tree fell onto EAC power lines, causing cables to be severed and a power outage. According to Mr. Nathaniel, the repair crew has located the problem and is on site, with the outage expected to be resolved in 1 to 1.5 hours.
