A 36-year-old man appeared again today before the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court, who is accused of kidnapping and threatening two women with a knife in an apartment in Larnaca on March 25, 2026. The case has been set for July 27, when the defendant is expected to enter a plea. Until then, he will remain in custody, while the defense has received the videotaped witness testimony for review.
The 36-year-old, who is of African descent, faces charges related to the abduction of individuals with the intent to confine them, abduction with the intent to cause actual bodily harm, threatening to commit an act of violence, assault resulting in actual bodily harm, psychological abuse, carrying a knife, and unlawful entry.

According to the defendant’s attorney, Michalis Spastris, he was provided today with the video footage of the testimony referred to in the statements.
Mr. Spastris stated that he will review the relevant material and that the next court hearing has been set for July 27, when the defendant is expected to respond to the charges against him. The defendant remains in custody.
It is recalled that, as announced by the police around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the police responded to an incident at an apartment building in Larnaca, where a man had gone out onto the balcony of an apartment and was shouting threats, while in possession of a knife.
As it turned out, “the man in question was in the apartment with two women, also of African descent, against whom he was making threats.”
The scene was cordoned off by police officers, and the incident was handled by police negotiators from the Special Operations Unit (MMA).
The man was arrested and taken to the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department offices for further questioning, while the two women who were with him in the apartment were taken to a hospital as a precaution for medical examinations.
