"Due to incorrect submission of applications," said the Head of the Ministry of Finance's Grants and Benefits Service, Lakis Mithyllos, explaining that this is the reason for the delay in the payment of student grants. “That is why the deadline has been extended—to give applicants whose incorrect applications were rejected another chance to submit them.”
According to Mr. Mithyllos, the review and approval of applications began two weeks ago, and the disbursement process is now in its final stages, with only the collection and entry of bank details remaining. When asked when the payment of the benefits will begin, he replied that “this depends on the procedures the banks must complete, so we cannot know exactly,”
He also added that the payments will be made in stages, since applications are being reviewed and approved gradually, and that by the end of the year, in-person benefits will also be paid to eligible recipients.
