A yellow warning for high temperatures in inland areas will be in effect from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to the Meteorological Service, the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius in inland areas.
On Saturday, however, a weather system from the north is expected to affect the island.
In the afternoon, the weather will be generally clear with occasional increased cloud cover; however, isolated showers cannot be ruled out in the mountainous areas. Winds will blow from the southwest to the northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily along the southern and eastern coasts up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, though at times—and especially along the coast—there will be increased low-level cloud cover. Later, during the early morning hours, patchy fog or mist is expected, mainly in eastern and inland areas. Winds will gradually become downslope and locally variable, light at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 23 degrees inland, around 24 on the coast, and around 22 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tomorrow, after the local low clouds and light fog or mist clear, the weather in most areas will become generally clear with temporary increases in local cloud cover; however, after noon in the mountains and possibly in some inland areas, clouds are expected to develop, bringing isolated showers, and the possibility of an isolated brief thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. Winds in the morning will be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily in the southwest this afternoon, reaching strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 40 degrees inland, around 32 on the western and southwestern coasts, around 34 on the remaining coasts, and around 29 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
On Friday, the weather will be generally clear with temporary increases in local cloud cover; however, after noon in the mountains and possibly in some inland areas, may result in isolated showers. Temperatures will not change significantly, remaining above seasonal averages.
On Saturday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. These conditions, particularly in the eastern half of the island, may be intense or even prolonged. Temperatures will drop significantly and will be below normal for this time of year.
On Sunday, the weather will initially be mostly clear; however, after noon, local cloud cover is expected to bring isolated showers or even isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains, though they cannot be ruled out in inland and eastern areas as well. Temperatures will rise slightly but will remain below seasonal averages.
