Commotion broke out on a beach in Larnaca at noon on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, when a mother noticed an unknown man holding her 5-year-old child in his arms.
According to the complaint the woman filed with the authorities, she and her 5-year-old child were lying on beach chairs when she noticed the stranger holding the child in his arms.

When the mother asked the man for an explanation, the stranger reportedly claimed that he wanted to play with the child, telling the woman that he had children of his own.
The mother then called the police, and officers rushed to the scene, taking statements from the mother, the unknown man, and eyewitnesses.
The case is being investigated by the police.
