Rain is falling in the mountainous regions of Cyprus. At the same time, high temperatures are being recorded in the rest of the island, while a yellow heat wave warning from the Meteorological Service is in effect for the interior.
The highest temperature so far was recorded in the Athalassa area, with the thermometer reading 40.7 degrees Celsius at 2:30 p.m. The temperature reached 39 degrees in Mammari, while in Kalavasos and Lefkara it hit 38 degrees.
