The fire that broke out in the Limassol district was caused by a burning vehicle.
According to Fire Department Spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire broke out between the communities of Malia and Dora in the Limassol district, in dry grass and wild vegetation.
The fire appears to have been caused and spread by a motor vehicle, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are expected to be investigated.
“We responded with a total of six fire trucks from the Limassol district, and ground forces are being reinforced by the Forestry Department, earthmovers, Civil Defense, and organized volunteer groups. The fire is ongoing. The Chief Fire Officer and the Director of Operations are at the Fire Service Crisis Management Center at Headquarters to coordinate the response.”
