There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of 20 individuals for various offenses, including illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, carrying a knife, illegal possession of drugs, residential burglary and theft, failure to appear in court, outstanding fine warrants, and others.
As part of these operations, 598 drivers and 204 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 28 property inspections were conducted to address illegal activities, resulting in six complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 201 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 15 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 70 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and as part of police investigations, 29 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 350 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 29 citations, and one case of driving under the influence of drugs was identified following preliminary drug tests.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
