From rain and thunderstorms to a summery setting—when will the weather change?

Rainy conditions will continue through Wednesday, while clear skies and rising temperatures are expected starting Thursday.

Speaking on the Alpha News program, Andreas Chrysanthou, spokesperson for the Meteorological Service, explained that scattered showers or even thunderstorms are expected today, mainly ininland, mountainous, and northern regions, with autumn-like conditions expected to continue at least through Wednesday.

Rain is expected tonight in coastal areas, while tomorrow will bring more local showers and isolated thunderstorms.

“Starting Thursday, summer-like weather on the island. We’ll see mostly clear skies. Thursday, Friday, and possibly the weekend as well. Temperatures will rise by 2–3 degrees.”

Meanwhile, the initial outlook for the coming week indicates that the weather looks “promising” in terms of rainfall.

Detailed forecast

An unstable air mass is affecting the region.

Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers possible along the coast. Winds will be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to 14 degrees inland, around 18 degrees along the coast, and 7 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tomorrow, there will be periods of increased cloud cover, which is expected to bring isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon, mainly in the mountains, the interior, and the north. Winds will initially be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, and will gradually shift to southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 30 degrees inland, 27 degrees along the coast, and 18 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tomorrow night, increased cloud cover along the coast may bring isolated showers. Winds will be light, blowing from the northwest to the northeast at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be periods of increased cloud cover, which in the afternoons is expected to bring isolated showers or even thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains and inland areas. On Thursday, the weather will be mostly clear, while increased cloud cover will develop in the mountains.

Temperatures will gradually rise slightly over the three-day period, reaching levels close to the seasonal averages.
