The results of the installation of air conditioners in schools were presented on Friday, September 4.
In the table below, we see, on one side, all the air conditioners that were operational or for which the procedures to make them operational were underway, without breaking down the percentages. These figures were provided on July 2, 2026. On the other side of the table, in the data presented on Friday, September 4, 2026, we see the percentages of air conditioners that are in working order. Please note that the data pertain to elementary schools.
As shown in the table, there is a significant difference in these percentages.

The data for middle schools is particularly striking, as the figures sent on July 2 show that Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta, and Paphos were at 100%, which is clearly not the case.

The same picture prevails in high schools, as Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Famagusta were at 100% as of July 2. A picture that is far from reality, according to data presented on Friday. The only district where 100% of high schools have functioning air conditioners is Larnaca.
It should be noted that these figures were requested by the TV show “Alpha Kalimera.”

The President of the Association of Licensed Electrical Contractors of Cyprus, George Kyriakou, spoke on the Alpha Kalimera show about the very serious problems with electrical installations and the procedures that must be followed.
“They need to work things out with the EAC. There are cases where people wait months for the EAC inspection so the power can be turned on. Electricians can’t go out to do jobs and then wait months to get paid. Please, Madam Minister, step in so that your work can get done.”
