This is a technical problem, the causes of which are being investigated, she noted, explaining that, due to the interruption in communication between the solar farms and the Distribution Control Center, the data sent to the Operator regarding the solar farms’ power generation was incorrect.
At the same time, Ms. Kousiappa noted that various areas across Cyprus were affected because there was a six-stage shedding of consumer load.

It was further clarified further that the power supply has been restored, but the technical problem has not yet been resolved, noting that other solutions have been found to ensure a continuous power supply.
As for the afternoon hours, there is not expected to be a problem meeting demand during the hours when the photovoltaic systems are not generating power, said Ms. Kousiappa, adding that there is sufficient generation capacity available to meet today’s demand.
