The victim of the attempted murder that took place in the early hours of the morning in Aradippou is being treated at Nicosia General Hospital and is on a ventilator.
The 33-year-old underwent surgery, and his condition is considered critical.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old suspect was brought before the Larnaca District Court, which ordered his detention for eight days.
The police are investigating the suspect for the offenses of attempted murder, acts intended to cause serious bodily harm and injury—offenses that were committed at 12:30 a.m. today in Aradippou.
According to the investigating magistrate’s statement before the Court, “at 12:52 a.m., information was relayed from the Larnaca Police Department’s Message Control Center that there was an injured person in a specific area of Aradippou, whose injuries were likely caused by a knife.

Officers from the Aradippou Police Station immediately went to the area, where they found an injured person being picked up by an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Services (TAEP) of Larnaca General Hospital. Subsequently, due to the seriousness of the victim’s condition, he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital.
Altercation Following a Night Out
As determined by further investigations by the authorities, the 21-year-old suspect, along with the 33-year-old and a third person, had gone out for a night on the town and consumed alcoholic beverages, and, according to witness testimony, on their way back, they appeared to have engaged in a heated argument in the open outdoor area of the residence where they live and quarreled with one another.
Subsequently, after entering their residence, they continued to argue, resulting in the 22-year-old using two kitchen knives—which he likely took from their home— injured the victim in two places on the chest, three on the left arm, one in the abdominal area, and one on the right palm.
As stated in court, after committing the crimes, the suspect fled the scene—his place of residence— was located two hours later in a neighboring area and taken to the Aradippou Police Station for further questioning.

During his oral questioning, the suspect stated that he and the complainant are friends, live and work together, and admitted that he was the one who inflicted the injuries on the victim.
According to the investigating judge in the case, the investigation is in its initial stages, and further investigative work is needed to complete the criminal case file.
Specifically, approximately 20 statements will be taken from the suspect’s workplace as well as from other individuals who live and work at the same company. A number of pieces of evidence have been collected and will be sent for further forensic analysis; the suspect is expected to be questioned, and any claims he makes will be investigated; The two kitchen knives used by the suspect during the commission of the crimes are being sought, and a crime scene reconstruction is expected to take place.
In addition, investigations will be conducted to identify the location where the suspect and the victim left on Saturday for a night out and to determine whether the events occurred before their return at 00:30 after midnight today, Sunday, and took place at their place of residence. Investigators will also seek to identify other individuals, aside from the suspect’s colleagues, who were with the victim and the suspect during their night out.
The suspect works in the Aradippou industrial area and, aside from his job, has no other ties to the Republic of Cyprus.
The area will be searched to secure closed-circuit surveillance footage.
The suspect filed a request with the court for legal aid. His defense attorney did not object to the police’s request to detain his client for a period of 8 days.
