The 46-year-old woman, who was the victim of an attempted murder by her 55-year-old husband on June 30, in Limassol, with police investigators awaiting her statement.

According to police sources, the 46-year-old woman has awakened from sedation and remains hospitalized in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital, while the Limassol CID’s investigation into the family tragedy is at an advanced stage.

Police investigators are awaiting approval from the victim’s treating physicians to take a statement from the victim, which is considered particularly important for completing the case file and answering specific questions.

It should be noted that her 55-year-old husband, who was a police officer, reported for duty shortly after 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, and after loading his service weapon, he said he was leaving to run an errand and would be back in five minutes. He then met with his wife outside the Agios Spyridonas High School on Ilision Street, where they appear to have gotten into a heated argument and altercation.

A bystander intervened when he noticed the altercation taking place inside the 46-year-old woman’s car, with the 55-year-old man demanding that he leave while threatening him with his service weapon. According to the witness account, the 55-year-old then turned the gun on his wife and shot her before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life.
