Investigations by the Larnaca CID led to the arrest yesterday afternoon of a 33-year-old man who is allegedly involved in yesterday morning’s attempted robbery. Authorities located a vehicle believed to have been used by the perpetrators, and a search of the suspect’s home yielded ammunition and evidence linked to the case. Another person is still wanted in connection with the same case.
According to Giorgos Charalambous, Head of the Larnaca CID, “following examinations and investigations, and after acting on information, members of the Larnaca CID located, around 7 p.m., in an apartment building in the Larnaca area, a vehicle of the same type, make, and color, and with specific characteristics matching those of the perpetrators’ vehicle during the attempted robbery, which was subsequently seized.”

It states that “subsequently, the driver of that vehicle was identified; he was found to be a 33-year-old third-country national.”
It notes that “during a search of the individual’s residence, two fully loaded rifle cartridges and one machine-gun cartridge were found and seized as evidence, and he was arrested for a flagrant offense.”
Furthermore, “evidence was found and seized at the residence in question that appears to have been in the suspect’s possession during the attempted robbery.”
It is reported that “a judicial arrest warrant was issued against the 33-year-old for the offenses of conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, assault resulting in actual bodily injury, and carrying a weapon to instill fear, and he was arrested.”
It should be noted that “another individual is still wanted in connection with the same case, against whom an arrest warrant has also been issued for the aforementioned offenses.”
The suspect is expected to appear today before the Larnaca District Court for the issuance of a detention order.
The second individual is wanted, and investigations are underway to locate and arrest him.
