Police presence and activity were intense last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, fourteen individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the Republic, assaulting a police officer, carrying a knife, and traffic violations.
As part of these operations, 490 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 657 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 46 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in two complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 212 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 23 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 91 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 12 vehicles were impounded.
