There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, five individuals were arrested for various offenses, including theft (two individuals), illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, driving under the influence of alcohol, and violation of the terms of a security guard’s license.
As part of these operations, 841 drivers and 254 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 50 premises were inspected to address violations, resulting in five complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 304 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 28 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 67 were for speeding, and as part of police investigations, 24 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 286 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 22 citations, while preliminary drug tests yielded three positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
