There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, six individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and others.
As part of these operations, 637 drivers and 233 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 74 premises were inspected to address violations, resulting in 15 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 321 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 17 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 82 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, and 13 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 450 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 24 citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
