The situation on Ammochostou Avenue in Aglantzia has become a daily “headache” for drivers, one of the busiest roads in the area, used by hundreds of drivers every day.
Ongoing construction has restricted traffic, with vehicles currently being directed to use the left lane, while the right lane remains closed due to the work.
According to reports, the project began on February 20, 2025, and, based on the initial plan, it was scheduled to last 24 months, with a completion date of February 22, 2027.
However, a political decision was subsequently made to add another reclaimed water pipeline from Mia Milia, a development that affects the project’s timeline. This addition is expected to cause a delay of approximately 3–4 months.
The next important milestone for drivers is October 15, when the right lane—which is currently closed—is expected to reopen to traffic.

This development is expected to improve traffic conditions at the site and reduce the inconvenience for drivers, who are currently forced to navigate a narrowed roadway.
At the same time, the condition of the road surface in certain areas is drawing strong complaints from drivers. The bumps, combined with the construction work and road damage, make driving through the area particularly difficult, and there have been numerous reports of vehicle strain and damage.
Drivers are now hoping for a return to normal traffic conditions on the boulevard, with the project’s completion now scheduled for late May to early June, according to the revised schedule.
Residents spoke to Alpha TV’s camera and reporter Eleni Fanari.
“Honestly, we’ve been seeing the same thing for three years—they really need to do something soon. There’s a lot of traffic, and the cars are taking an unimaginable beating. Nothing but frustration and despair. It’s a total mess.”
