The Health Insurance Organization announces the upcoming implementation of an identity verification procedure during telephone communications with the (SC) of the National Health System (GESY), reminding GESY beneficiaries that the process will be conducted using a one-time – OTP, with the aim of further strengthening the protection of personal data.
Please note that the process will take effect on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and will apply in cases where the caller requests information from the Call Center that includes personal data, ensuring that personal information is disclosed only after secure identification.
“When contacting the Center by phone, the caller must state their identity and the nature of their request,” notes the OAU, adding that for general inquiries that do not require the disclosure of personal data, the call will be forwarded to a Service Center representative.
Furthermore, in cases where access to information containing personal data is required, the caller must ensure they have immediate access to the cell phone number registered in their contact information in the GESY System, as a one-time code will be sent to that number; this code will be valid for five minutes and must be entered into the telephone system for verification purposes.
Please note that, following successful verification via the one-time code, a Service Center agent will conduct an additional identity verification check on the caller by requesting the necessary information, such as an ID number and date of birth, in order to ensure that personal data is disclosed exclusively to the authorized recipient or to a person entitled to receive it.
Please note that information containing personal data can only be provided once the verification process has been successfully completed. Otherwise, personal data cannot be disclosed, and only general information will be provided.
The OAY urges beneficiaries to verify that their contact information in the GESY Information System—and particularly their cell phone number—is correct and up to date, so that they can be served without interruption once the process is implemented.
