Thirty flights and approximately 5,000 passengers who were scheduled to travel yesterday to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports were affected by flight disruptions caused by atechnical malfunction in the air traffic control system in the UK. According to sources at Hermes Airports, the situation remains fluid and is expected to become clearer later today, while some of the flights that were canceled yesterday are expected to operate today.
Specifically, a total of 30 flights to and from Cyprus’s two airports were affected yesterday by the problems that arose at British airports.
According to sources from the company that manages Cyprus’s airports, Hermes Airports, 16 flights to and from Larnaca Airport and 14 flights to and from Paphos Airport were affected yesterday.
As the same sources told CNA, approximately 5,000 people traveling to and from Cyprus’s two airports were affected by the situation. They added that “the situation is fluid” and that some of the flights that were canceled yesterday are expected to operate today.
Passengers are contacting airlines to reschedule their trips, and there are no reports of overcrowding at Larnaca and Paphos airports.
