Police arrested a 28-year-old man yesterday as part of an investigation into a case of online fraud.
Specifically, last February, a 49-year-old man reported to the Paphos Police Department that he had received a call on his cell phone, during which the name of an online bank where he held an account appeared on the screen.

During the conversation, an unknown person informed him that attempts were being made to hack into his bank account and asked him to disclose his personal banking passwords. After the 49-year-old disclosed his banking information, he later discovered that more than 6,800 euros had been withdrawn from two of his bank accounts.
As part of the investigation into the case, a court arrest warrant was issued for a 28-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday at Larnaca Airport as he attempted to leave the Republic.
The suspect was brought before the Paphos District Court today, which issued a five-day detention order against him.
The Financial Crime Investigation Office of the Paphos CID is continuing its investigation.
