Tobacco products and large sums of money were found in the possession of a 34-year-old man and confiscated following a police search. The 34-year-old was arrested to facilitate the investigation.
At around 11:50 p.m. yesterday, members of the Motorized Rapid Response Unit (M.R.R.U.) stopped a vehicle traveling on a road in Ayia Napa, driven by the 34-year-old, for inspection.
During the subsequent search, cash amounts totaling €21,760 and €3,795 were found in the vehicle and in the driver’s possession, respectively.

Further investigation also revealed that the vehicle contained tobacco products without the Republic of Cyprus’s markings. Specifically, 30 packs of cigarettes of various brands were found in the trunk.
The 34-year-old was arrested on the spot for the offenses of illegal possession of property and illegal possession of tobacco products and was taken into custody to facilitate the investigation.
