Police are investigating a new case involving the possession of child sexual abuse material; as part of their investigation, they arrested a 58-year-old man today.
The investigation began after the police received a tip from Europol stating that a user of an online messaging app had uploaded material depicting the sexual abuse of minors to his account. Investigations conducted by the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate to verify the suspect’s identity revealed evidence against the 58-year-old.
Pursuant to a court warrant, members of the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate conducted a search today at the 58-year-old’s residence, where they located and seized—to be submitted for forensic examination—two cell phones, two laptops, three USB flash drives, and two external hard drives.
The 58-year-old was arrested by police officers pursuant to a court warrant and taken into custody for the purposes of a police investigation, with the police investigating a case involving the acquisition, possession, access to, and distribution of child pornography.
The case is being investigated by the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate.
