Members of the Drug Enforcement Agency (YKAN) arrested a 27-year-old man yesterday afternoon after discovering a quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of approximately one kilogram inside his vehicle.
Specifically, around 7 p.m. yesterday, as part of an operation to gather and evaluate evidence, members of the YKAN stopped a car driven by a 27-year-old man for inspection.
During the subsequent search, a quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of approximately one kilogram, two cell phones, a sum of money, and a half-smoked cigarette containing cannabis mixed with manufactured tobacco.
The 27-year-old man was arrested on the spot for a flagrant offense, and a search was subsequently conducted at his residence, where his 23-year-old partner was also present.
During the search, a total of approximately 105 grams of cannabis, two cell phones, a precision scale, and a half-smoked cigarette containing cannabis mixed with manufactured tobacco. The 23-year-old woman was also arrested on a flagrant offense.
The two suspects were taken into custody and are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court this morning for proceedings regarding the issuance of detention warrants.
The Drug Enforcement Agency is continuing its investigation.
