There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, twelve individuals were arrested for various offenses, including assault, carrying a knife, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 815 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 1,052 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 57 property inspections were carried out to address illegal activities, resulting in 13 reports filed.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 362 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and twelve cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation. As part of the police investigations, ten vehicles were impounded.
Of the reports filed for traffic violations, 128 concerned speeding. There were 23 reports of driving under the influence of alcohol, while one case of driving under the influence of drugs was identified. A total of 307 drivers were tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while six drivers were tested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
